Why God Destroyed The World In The Days Of Noah (And Will Do So Again In These Last Days)!

(Hint: It was NOT over corrupted DNA!)

The days of Noah

by Paul Benson

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20

Over and over the Holy Spirit asks me this question; and here I once again pose it to you: Just how important is it to abide in the truth and to stay free from the grasp of error? James said when you steer someone back to the way of truth you have saved his soul from death! One falsehood opens the door to another; and if we are not careful our lives can quickly be over-run with error.

The Highway of Truth that leads to eternal life has but one on-ramp (Jesus: the way, the truth, and the life), but sadly this path has many exits. And many deceiving spirits are at work constantly attempting to steer the true followers of Christ toward one of those exits. The danger of embracing concepts and teachings which have no foundation in the truth of God’s Word cannot be overstated!

To depart from the truth is to depart from Christ who IS the truth. Could there be any greater danger to the believer?

We live in a day where the Body of Christ in the western world has for the most part either been lulled to sleep by purveyors of pacification, or distracted away from sound doctrine to hang on every word of those promoting (usually for profit) signs and wonders or fantastical extra-biblical fables full of wild unsubstantiated claims. These pseudo-gospels have the Body of Christ greatly stunted and hindered today.

What Is The REAL Reason God Destroyed The World?

One false notion that has risen to prominence among today’s believers is that God destroyed the world with a flood in the days of Noah to rid the planet of those who were contaminated with the DNA of fallen angels. That it was a purge to purify the bloodlines of mankind.

That is absolutely contrary to what is actually taught in the Scriptures!

That notion lays aside some vital truth that is critical to a proper understanding of God’s call to mankind (and a proper response to that call). I am talking about the warning we are supposed to glean from the story of the Flood concerning man’s personal accountability for sin and the wrath the unrepentant will face. A fable about God destroying the world to rid it of an evil hybrid alien species does NOT convey that warning to the wicked. It obfuscates it! Let’s look at what the Bible really says about WHY God destroyed the former world.

The Folly Of Following Fables

Myths and fables among the Body of Christ are nothing new. The early Church was plagued and hindered with such just as we are today. The writings of the early fathers speak of the wayward fables common among the Jews. And much attention was directed to this problem in the writings and ministry of the Apostles. They felt is was an issue to be contended with, and we see strong evidence that they did so.

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 1Timothy 1:4

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 1Timothy 4:7

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Titus 1:14

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2Peter 1:16

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Timothy 4:3-4

We are living in the day of the fulfillment of that prophetic last verse! I personally believe that the notion that fallen angels copulated with human women and created a hybrid species to be one of those extra-biblical fables. While I have always maintained a posture that I might be incorrect on this point, and continue to closely examine (in the light of God’s Word) whatever materials I come across on this issue with an open mind, the more I study out the matter and pray over it the less I see it as a possibility.

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. Genesis 6:3

The Scriptures show that the Lord’s anger that brought about the Flood was directed at MAN! Not at a perverted species of hybrids; and not at any fallen angels for impregnating human women. Why would the Lord take it out on man if it was not men committing this evil? What kind of justice would that show? None!

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. Genesis 6:5

Notice it says ‘I will destroy man whom I have created’, not ‘the evil hybrid race that Satan created’. Although many choose to ignore it, the Bible plainly teaches God brought the Flood because the condition of the hearts of HIS CREATION had become so corrupt. If this is what the Scriptures say why should we think it to be otherwise?

There is just too little foundation within Scripture, and too many facets of this human/hybrid story that either contradict or ignore truth plainly stated in Scripture, for me to embrace it as proper doctrine. The further I look into this the more apparent those contradictions and ignored truths become.

And there are certain aspects of that teaching that are seriously corrupting the understanding of those being taught them. To show you what I mean let’s start with a look at Cain.

Cain Was NOT A Hybrid!

And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Genesis 4:3-5

I have heard it stated many times that the reason God accepted Abel’s offering but rejected Cain’s was due to what it was they each had offered. Many suggest that because Abel’s offering was a blood offering it was acceptable; and Cain’s was not satisfactory because there was no bloodshed involved. I seriously doubt that is the case. I believe God was judging them each by their own fruits, not the fruits they were offering.

Many who buy into the theory that fallen angels sired hybrid human offspring also believe Satan had relations with Eve and fathered Cain. They claim the reason Cain was rejected was that he was polluted with the DNA of a fallen angel. I also seriously doubt that notion. God judges mankind by their fruits not their lineage! (…the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work… 1Peter 1:17)

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. Genesis 4:1

It is pretty clear to me in the Word that Adam was the father of Cain. Adam knew his wife, she got pregnant, and had a child! What is so hard to grasp there? Amazingly some ignore that clarity, and instead spin a wild tale of a sexual encounter between Eve and Satan producing that child. (Some even include Adam in this gross encounter!) But where is such a notion (or the additional witness necessary for sound doctrine) to be found in the Scriptures? There is none. Eve testified that the child was a gift from the Lord, not from the devil! And God himself offered to accept Cain!

And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Genesis 4:6-7

It is important to understand that God communicated an invitation to Cain. He offered him an open door of fellowship and a promise of acceptability if he would but meet the qualification given. He told Cain he WOULD be received if he did well. God would NOT have related to Cain in the manner he did if Cain was an evil ‘hybrid’ doomed to perdition along with the rest of the supposedly non-redeemable offspring of the fallen ones. No, you see, Cain was a sinful man with an evil heart, and thus did great evil to his brother. Cain’s problem was NOT tainted DNA!

His problem was a sin issue!

I realize that not everyone who embraces the notion of hybrid humans sired by those angels who had abandoned their former position thinks Cain was fathered by Satan. It is merely one of the many erroneous offshoots of that extra-biblical yarn. I bring it up to make the point I want to emphasize here today. And that point is this:

God did NOT destroy the world in the days of Noah because the bloodline of mankind had been tainted with evil DNA. He vented his holy wrath upon those inhabiting that world because of their SIN!

And that sinfulness and evil was NOT a byproduct of sexual relations between fallen angels and humans. It was a horrible curse of a fallen human nature passed on to the descendants of Adam through the choice of disobedience made in that Garden. Through their own free will God’s majestic creatures Adam and Eve chose to disobey God; and that dreadfully stupid CHOICE they made brought sin into the world.

The sinfulness of mankind is in his nature, not in his DNA! Mistaken beliefs on this point can lead to some very dangerous theology (which we will discuss a bit later).

But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. Genesis 15:16

That verse may seem to be totally unrelated to what I am discussing. But God once used it to strongly speak to me about the progressive nature of iniquity. If left unchecked it goes through somewhat of a maturing process (if I might use that term here), and will eventually come to a fullness. It festers and grows whenever allowed to. And when a person, a group, a society (or even a whole planet) allows that iniquity to grow unrestrained over a long period of time it will increase to a horrible level. It will come to a fullness; and when it does the holiness and righteous judgment of God will deal with it. In his time and in the manner of his choosing.

I believe we are at that time, and will soon see the manner of his choosing.

We see this idea of iniquity coming to a full illustrated in the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. I wrote in another article that I wonder if the isolated location of the cities of the plain (they were hemmed in by a wilderness region and somewhat cut-off from the rest of the world) led to an introverted culture where things not acceptable to the world as a whole were allowed to take root and become acceptable to them. Iniquity was given place to, and it flourished in their midst. The end result was a sick and twisted culture where violence and unnatural sex acts were a normal way of life (kind of like today’s America)!

But there came a day when God said enough is enough and he rained down judgment and purged the region of that iniquity. Not because of a tainted bloodline, but because of callous hearts terribly tainted by the stain of sin that was allowed to come to a full.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1Corinthians 15:21-22

The concept that mankind was tainted and turned evil by tainted DNA is not a biblical teaching. It is an invention of man. The Scriptures clearly teach that it was through the first Adam that sin entered into the world, and through the last Adam came the remedy for that sin. There is not one place in the Bible that even so much as hints that a corrupted bloodline was (or is) the object of God’s displeasure. The problem is (and always has been) sin that is allowed to run amok and to pollute and destroy individuals or even entire societies.

Sometimes its helpful to step aside from debate over the correctness of a teaching, and take a good long look at the fruit it brings forth. Much discernment can be gained from this practice. Where does this teaching steer people’s focus? (Jewish fables… …that turn from the truth. Titus 1:14) What effect does it have on their understanding of the Scriptures? (fables… …which minister questions. 1Tim. 1:4) Does it cause them to embrace notions contrary to the full counsel of God’s Word? (will not endure sound doctrine… …they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Timothy 4:3-4)

Regardless of whether they are actually true, partly true, or completely false, I have discerned some very bad fruit come forth from the fallen angels/human hybrid teachings. For one, it promotes an improper understanding of why God purged the former world with a flood; and this has a very negative cause and effect in the way the world is being presented with the Gospel. Please let me try to explain what I mean.

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 2Peter 2:4-6

The stories of the Flood and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were given to us as examples of God venting his wrath upon the sinfulness of man. They are intended to be a timeless warning and constant reminder of the judgment to come upon those who will not depart from their sin.

One of the most crucial, and conviction inducing, elements of God’s Gospel call upon mankind is the reality of his great displeasure over sin; and his demand that we turn from that sin to obey his will. OR ELSE! The world needs desperately to be seriously impacted with a message that leaves a dark cloud of impending judgment hanging over their heads. It is by the fear of the Lord that men depart from evil. Proverbs 16:6

That dark cloud of impending judgment hanging over my head, and haunting me relentlessly, was what drove me to seek remedy in the Cross of Christ. It is a divinely chosen method of dealing with the heart of man. Without this conviction producing effect the Gospel becomes powerless to save.

This element of the Gospel is all but missing in most preaching today. I have learned to watch closely for its inclusion (or lack thereof) in preaching and teaching; and see this as an important indicator of healthy ministry. When I see teaching that distorts the truths of the Word in such a manner that the wicked is no longer impacted by this warning of their accountability and future judgment this is a real red-flag in my opinion!

It was the iniquity in man’s sinful hearts maturing to a fullness and deafening them to the call to righteousness that caused God to destroy the world. Period.

It was not a blood disorder; it was a sin issue!

God destroyed the world with a flood because of the sinfulness of mankind; not because an evil hybrid species had taken root, and was populating the planet!

God was judging the fruit of a fallen sinful human nature. To steer people instead to embrace the notion what took place in Noah’s day was God purging a polluted bloodline caused by fallen angels siring human hybrids severely diminishes from the true message of warning to the wicked the Scriptures bring forth, and the desired impact of that message upon those out of sync with the will of God.

This unbiblical and false reasoning about why the Earth was purged needs to be itself purged from the preaching of the Body of Christ! And those promoting this false and distracting concept need to repent of it. This sinful world (and also the sinful Church) needs slapped right in the face with the truth that God will soon once again vent his holy anger upon mankind for the very same reason he did before.

Man’s iniquity has once again come to a fullness and Judgment Day approaches!

That is the true message the story of the Flood is supposed to bring forth to this generation! Let’s not hinder the work of God by promoting myths and fables instead of the clearly stated truths of the Bible. Let’s get it right!

Also little mention is given to the multitudes who have been influenced by the hybrid human myth into accepting a false Gospel that presents salvation by lineage rather than salvation by grace through faith. This is a belief held by most followers of William Branham as well as many others. This false gospel puts forth the idea that the righteous are the ones with pure blood; and the wicked are those whose blood is tainted with fallen DNA. Righteousness by lineage.

The Bible teaches no such thing!

Although not all who hold to the fallen angel/hybrid human teaching believe this way MANY do; and it is a cult of false theology that does not bring one into saving grace. It sets aside the work of the Cross as the only means of salvation. There is no such thing as salvation (or damnation) by ones lineage.

Again, righteousness or wickedness is a heart condition NOT a blood disorder! And the promotion of the hybrid human theory has been quite instrumental in the furtherance of this heresy of salvation by lineage. This is NOT good fruit!

The Call To Warn The World

The message of the remnant Church today is full to the brim with urgent words of warning. Warning of Planet X. Warning of tsunamis and asteroid impacts. Warning of coming famine and plagues. Warning of the coming of fallen angels; and the coming of fierce giants. We hear words of warning everywhere!

But what is the message of warning we are really called to be broadcasting? The greatest danger to mankind today is not war, earthquake, asteroids, plagues, famines, giant man-eating hybrids, or even evil fallen angels walking the Earth.

The greatest danger to mankind today is that humanity is about to find itself in the clutches of an angry God!

God himself is due to show up and vent his pent-up fury upon the sinfulness of his wicked and rebellious creation! THAT is the truth the world (and the lukewarm Church) needs to hear. The Lamb this world crucified will very soon return in flaming fire to take vengeance upon them who know not God and obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (2Thess. 1:8).

All other danger (real or imagined) being preached and prophesied to transpire in these last days absolutely pales in comparison to the fury of God’s Wrath this world will soon face at the Return of Christ! But WHO is preaching that message? Sadly, very few!

Most are too busy tickling ears with a fable of the Church being raptured before the coming tribulation; or entertaining and wowing us with sensationalized (and highly profitable!) ‘Bible teachings’ that the Bible actually does not teach.

Should we, the spokespersons for God, really be squandering what precious little time we have preaching unsubstantiated myths and extra-biblical fables instead of warning the world (and the Church) of the wrath to come, and the Way to avoid that wrath? Are we truly about our Father’s business doing so?

I think some of us need to seriously ponder that point.

May the grace of God keep those who await his Son;

Paul Benson

Some additional thoughts:

Do I believe in giants? Absolutely! The biblical record of such is quite clear. But I simply see no credible reason (biblical or otherwise) that I should believe they were the offspring of fallen angels. WHY should I?

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Timothy 3:16

The Scriptures were given to us as a standard upon which to base our Christian beliefs. The true doctrines of our faith have a clear and multiplied witness in the Word of God. It is from this clear and multiplied witness in Scripture that we receive the doctrine that we (by the quickening of the Holy Spirit) are to preach and teach; the Spirit and the Word agreeing as one. Our responsibility as followers of Christ is far greater than to let down that standard. Extra-biblical myths have no business being promoted as ‘Christian doctrine’!

For example: The fallen angel/human hybrid theory states that the entities that oppress and afflict mankind are NOT evil angels but the departed spirits of the supposed hybrid humans who are not eligible for salvation. This is a MAJOR doctrinal point; and if it were true would affect many other facets of doctrine. I believe if this were the truth of the matter we would have a clear and multiplied witness of that truth in the Word. BUT…. where is it? Nowhere to be found!

There is absolutely nothing in Scripture upon which to base this major doctrinal point. BIG RED FLAG! If you took every single passage of Scripture that is used as a basis to promote that theory and put them together it is not a sizable list. I have seen such a list. It is quite sparse considering the enormous scope of that vein of theory! And from those verses in that list you CANNOT derive what is claimed that ‘the Bible teaches’. It is just NOT there!

If being about our Father’s business included the preaching of this theory don’t you think he would have given us clear and concise witness to it in the Holy Scriptures that are: profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness?

There is not a biblical foundation for 95% of what is claimed ‘the Bible teaches’ about the notion of devils siring offspring with human women and the accompanying facets of that theory. Any teaching that affects so many doctrinal issues as the one in question but has no solid Scriptural foundation to support its doctrinal claims should be viewed as highly suspect in the eyes of any discerning believer. IMHO

There is a grave danger in saying the Bible teaches things that it does not. It is called ‘false witness’! Even if the theory were true (and I highly doubt it is) it would STILL be a false witness to claim the Bible teaches it; because it certainly does not! If I said the Bible teaches the moon revolves around the Earth every 28 days I would be bearing false witness. Does the moon revolve around the Earth every 28 days or so? Yes, it truly does, but the Bible makes no such claim. The Bible does speak of the moon, but does not give that teaching. So even though I may be stating something true I would still be bearing false witness in claiming it to be a Bible teaching. In this similar manner those who are claiming the Bible teaches the fallen angel/human hybrid theory and all its various facets are bearing false witness, and need to repent of this. IT IS A SIN TO BEAR FALSE WITNESS!

You can believe in hybrid humans if you choose. I wont dislike or reject you for that opinion. I promise. I just prefer to base my beliefs and teachings upon what is plainly and clearly stated in the Word of God. Although folks claim to get that theory from the Bible, the Scriptures actually teach no such thing. It is a theory that must be presupposed and then read into various texts that in their context actually do not bring forth the info people are claiming the Bible contains.

I can’t help but see this as the same shoddy treatment of the Scripture that birthed the pre-trib rapture hoax. It amazes me that some of the very same people who castigate the pre-trib crowd for the unbiblical and unsubstantiated claims they promote as sound doctrine (and the way they force their narrative into the text of the Bible), engage in exactly the same practice to promote the fallen angel/human hybrid theory! This (hypocritical?) practice is quite evident to me as I continue to examine this issue.

And to those who have turned these supposed ‘Biblical Teachings’ into merchandise, and are peddling it to the Body of Christ to profit from it? Well…. God help you! (Whatever happened to ‘freely ye have received – freely give’? If we claim to be followers of Christ should we not be actually following his teachings? Just sayin’…)

I know I got a bit long here with this article, and have certainly gotten a bit opinionated; but I sincerely hope I have given you some serious food for thought.

Here is another article that details many reasons I seriously doubt the fallen angel/human hybrid theory.

  1. Hey Brother, nice to hear a little Truth for a change . Try this little exercise ; write down 1 through 7 and enter the creation of the day under/beside the number as written in Genesis chapter 1; Now read Genesis chapter 2 and enter the day on which Adam was made by following the text in the Word of God rather than some nursery fable. If you follow the plain teaching in the text , Eureka ! Adam was made , singularly, on day three and a pleural multitude was created on day six . Kinda answers where the people in Nod came from, and erases the question of did God allow incest to fill the earth. Enjoying your writing , please keep it up. Yours in Christ , Paul J. Ford (yeah another one of us )

  2. Absolutely amazing. This puts to rest endless questions not pertaining to faith. Sin!! That nasty three letter word of conviction. The one that never goes away. I love the way it becomes simplified. The accepting of, denial of, and trivializing of it always brings ruin. I have found myself pondering some of the points on fallen angels, but those points never seemed too important, now I see why. Sin!!! The simplicity of it.

  3. Thank you for the TRUTH!
I’ve read some of these teachings and have always felt unsettled by the references given. They just don’t add up. They produce more questions than answers…which I see as my warning. When you say, “they force their narrative into the text of the Bible”. … its a perfect way to describe how the word is being twisted.

    1. Hi Vicki
Some sound advice Paul gave Timothy was just what you mentioned. He counseled Timothy to not: give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions; which is exactly what teaching these extra-biblical notions does.
      Thanks for the comment;
