I hear preachers and teachers on a regular basis claiming America is Babylon the Great, and prophesying that her demise is about to happen ANY DAY NOW! But, though many are firmly entrenched in their belief of an imminent destruction of America, I do not share that vision. Let me try to explain what I do see ahead for this nation.
The greatest reason I do not hold to the ‘America is Babylon and about to be destroyed’ theory is that according to the Scriptures Babylon is destroyed either just prior to, or in conjunction with, the Second Coming of Christ.
Though not all of the events in the book of Revelation are given in a strictly chronological order (teaching the seals and trumpets run consecutively fosters many misconceptions) we see that a good many are. Such is the case with Revelation 18-19 where the devastation of Babylon is described in a running scenario that includes the Second Coming where Christ returns for his Bride. (That prophetic chronology also prohibits any notion of a pre-trib rapture!)
And if we back up a chapter we see a description of Satan’s hierarchy of global dominion turning upon itself (all according to God’s will) with devastating consequences.
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. … …15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. Revelation 17:12-18
This will not be the first time God has used the power of one evil entity to bring his judgments upon another; and we will see it played out in the final years of this age. But my point here is that if America (or what then remains of the former USA) is part of Babylon, that demise cannot take place until the Ten Kings of Revelation rise to power and later destroy her, because the Scriptures most certainly appoint that task to those kings.
I am not saying it is not possible for this nation to be attacked or destroyed by her enemies someday soon. Just that it would not be Babylon being destroyed; just another wicked nation being dealt her just reward. Plus, it’s going to take a financially and militarily strong cowboy to steer the nations of this world into the corral of global dominion. And I believe the United States is (at least for now) a necessary part of that corporate strength required to impose the economic sanctions that will force the nations of this world to cow-tow to global governance.
So when I hear folks tell me America is Babylon the Great, and the Whore is about to be destroyed at any minute, I have to say:
“Sorry Charlie! I highly doubt it!”
I do NOT believe that America is about to be destroyed (or that Christians should flee this nation to survive). What is being destroyed is the American way of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And if we were truly awake we would see that the ‘American Dream’ is in its death throes! This is the Judgment of God at work in this nation whether we choose to recognize it or not.
Will Donald Trump M.A.G.A.?
PLEASE! Don’t get me wrong here. I am NOT on board with those prophesying that America is on the rise to regain the status of a righteous and blessed nation before God Almighty!
It seems to me that the (for the most part) apostate Christian Church of this nation has lost touch with not only what it is that makes a nation truly righteous, but with any understanding of how the true Judgments of God manifest upon a disobedient people who once claimed to be his. Let’s take an honest look at both.
What Makes A Nation Great In God’s Eyes?
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34
Let’s ‘get it right’ here! What constitutes a return to being a ‘great nation’ in your eyes? A resurgence of nationalism? A robust economy regaining a former level of prosperity? A military whose strength is on the increase and unmatched on the world scene? A political strength that has the ability to reach out and shape the political landscape of the entire globe?
And yes we seem to be seeing all these areas being strengthened in our nation today. BUT… let me share a very personal opinion here: Those who think that those are the things that make a nation truly great need to remove their head from the sand (or whatever other dark place they have inserted it) and get back into the Word of God!
All those attributes have been possessed by some of the most oppressive and destructive nations this world has ever known (think Rome or Nazi Germany). Nations that have turned on their own people and slaughtered them by the millions!
Let’s ask ourselves: What attributes would a nation have to possess to be considered worthy of divine favor in God’s eyes?
Could a society that murders it’s children in mass on a daily basis be righteous in God’s sight? Or one which is not only totally inundated with the filth of pornography but who also manufactures and exports it to the world like it is just another domestic product for all to consume? Could a people that freely allow same-sex deviates to marry (and even handle the Holy Word of God in the pulpit!), and whose churches brazenly toss aside the true Gospel in favor of a man pleasing counterfeit, be guiltless before a Divine Creator? I think not.
No matter how robust our economy gets, nor how strong we are militarily, nor how many flags we wave, or even how many ‘evil regimes’ we topple, unless this society returns to behavior that is godly in the eyes of the Lord we will remain a nation deserving an increasing manifestation of the oppression and servitude we are being so aptly trained not just to receive but to expect (for your own good mind you!).
What Judgments Manifest When God Judges A Nation?
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Psalms 9:17
There is no doubt that Donald Trump is quite successful as a business man; and that he has made quite a number of good decisions that will certainly benefit the USA in regard to our economic and military strength. And I am quite glad that we don’t have another Clinton in the White House!
But, as I said in a past article if Trump remains in office we could very well be calling him Donald TROMP as we see him enact unbelievably strict measures (again: for your own good mind you!) in order to combat serious chaos, at home as well as abroad, in order to keep the good ship USA afloat.
Even now we have folks calling for martial law to purge the corruption from the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of our Government, as well as from the corporate and financial sectors of our society. And no wonder! That corruption is ubiquitous throughout all facets of our society (including religion) and it has us in an increasingly strong strangle-hold!
People are waking up to the reality that the titans of politics, finance, technology, and industry have transformed us into serfs they rule over; all the while sucking us dry as we gladly pay them to grant us our stupefying distractions that mold our behavior and tattle on our every move. And to many military rule in our nation seems to be the answer.
But what difference does it make what means was used to get us under martial law and dictatorship? A benevolent dictatorship is just tyranny with a smile. Will the loss of privacy, and the loss of freedom to travel or worship or express opinion, or any of the other losses and restrictions to come be any less oppressive because they were implemented for our own good?
We need to discern that the remarkable loss of rights, privacy, and personal freedom we have suffered in recent years, as well as the restrictions to come, are all a by-product of the loss of God’s favor upon our society. All of it, even down to the reduced spending power of our dollars, are just the beginnings of the Judgment even now unfolding upon this nation. And it *IS going to get much worse in spite of the ‘sunny days are ahead’ prophesying of today’s Cotton Candy Prophets.
*I take great exception to the way supposed prophets like Mark Taylor (his Trump Prophecy discussed here) call any warnings of Judgment upon the sin of this nation as Doom and Gloom preaching. (Taylor even goes as far as to call warnings such as I give that America is under divine Judgment as satanic in origin!) Prophets like Jeremiah or Ezekiel were spoken of in a similar manner by the ear-ticklers of their day. They even called Jeremiah a traitor to his nation for speaking of the coming Judgment upon Israel. But true prophetic ministry is a balance of stern warnings of Judgment upon the wicked and rebellious toward God coupled with the promise of forgiveness and acceptance to those who will repent, turn from their wickedness, and embrace God’s will. We need to preach BOTH!
The words ‘thus sayeth the Lord’ are words you will seldom hear me use; but I have absolutely no hesitation to use them in regard to the following statement: America is not a nation that will someday be Judged. America is a nation that is already under Divine Judgment! That is what I am hearing in regard to the future of this nation. Judgment is already here!
A Judgment I predict will increase and increase and increase in manifestation as gross sin continues to abound in our culture, and religious apostasy continues to preach a false gospel from our pulpits. A Judgment that will continue to unfold until this nation either repents or is in absolute shambles (like the formerly prosperous Venusalia, Syria, Libya etc.). Or possibly even overrun and occupied by her enemies!
God’s blessing and favor upon a nation brings peace and liberty. The removal of God’s blessing and favor opens the door for oppression, tyranny, and great hardship. THAT is the future of this unrepentant nation.
Though we cannot perfectly over-lay God’s methods of dealing with the ancient nation of Israel with our current society, we can discern from the Scriptures a definite science or pattern of God’s dealings with nations upon whom he bestows his favor. And we can also discern that when he removes that favor what unfolds is not a pretty picture.
It might do us all good to read over God’s promise of Blessing and his warning of Judgment that he gave to Israel. We can find those words in Deuteronomy chapter 28. Here is a snippet of that warning:
And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. Deuteronomy 28:63
The demise of Israel did not happen in a day. It unfolded as God called and called and called them to repentance. Until finally the day came when Jerusalem fell. Why should we think God will deal any differently with this nation? Is our Lord God not the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8)? Personally I have very little confidence that this nation will repent and turn from the smut, abortion, greed, and perversion so many are so stubbornly demanding a right to!
Consequently as a believer you need more than ever to make sure you are living with a clear conscience and seeking the will of God.
YOU NEED GOD’S FAVOR UPON YOU!!!!!!
Although persecutions and restrictions against the true followers of Christ will assuredly increase in the days ahead, I fully believe there will be a enormous difference in what will befall the compromised and the lukewarm compared to those who have walked in a sanctified manner before their God. I have developed these thoughts in a more detailed manner in the following articles. I hope they might be a help to you in finding God’s favor in the dark days ahead.
I welcome your input!
