I don’t know that I could possibly recommend a more insightful and balanced ministry than that of brother Zac Poonen. His teachings on Christian doctrine in general, and the eschatology in particular presented in the following video, are in excellent harmony with the Scriptures.
Why are so many today explaining away certain truths of the Bible that men of God once greatly expounded upon?
by Paul Benson
I want to share a message on 2Thessalonians chapter 2 by David Wilkerson with you. It speaks even louder today that when it was preached. But before I do I want to give you a sense of why I feel this message is so critical to hear right now.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Mark 1:3
Just as John’s astute message on repentance prepared a straight path for the coming of Christ and his message to the world, so also will a repentance-less gospel make a crooked path in preparation for Antichrist and his. That path is being prepared before our very eyes!
Just as the true gospel that is according to godliness prepares the hearts and minds of those who embrace it to come into communion with ‘our Father who art in Heaven’, in a similar manner the corrupt and perverted gospel going forth in this generation is preparing those who are seduced by it to come under the spell of a not-so-heavenly father: the one from the black abyss! Why is it that the Western Church is so willing to accept wacky alternative renderings of Scripture all the while turning a blind eye to the fact they are so obviously errant? Is this not apostasy in action?
by Paul Benson
(I know I have recently touched upon the issues addressed in this article; but feel led to do so in a more thorough manner. So I ask my readers to please excuse any redundancy. P.B.)
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Revelation 21:27
Of all the truths critical to the well-being of humanity we can say certainly the most vital center around the love of God for us, and his desire to rescue us from the consequence of sin through faith in his Son and the sacrifice of Calvary. And I hope that divine truth reigns supreme in your consciousness!
And there is definite reason that the Apostle Paul said ‘comfort one another with these words’ in regard to the resurrection of the dead and the future catching away of the believers. The reality of the resurrection unto eternal life is the hope of the believer. And we should all be firmly settled in that hope.
But as a watchman at the wall I feel divinely compelled to consistently raise warning concerning another vein of truth. And that is concerning the danger of people of faith being seduced away from Christ by the lure of deception. That there are those who can with great subtlety twist the truth into a lie. And they can make these lies sound so plausible and reasonable with their ‘great swelling words of vanity’ (2Peter 2:18) that it can corrupt your understanding of God’s ways to the point you lose your grip on the truth.
And this is one area where we had better ‘get it right’! God is a God of Truth. Lies and deceptions are a defilement and an abomination to him! Please read the opening verse again asking the question: What will be the fate of those who turn aside to lies, and defile others with those lies?
Scary business. The path to eternal life is truth. We must not depart from that path!
Is there any correlation between the number 10 and the time of great tribulation? I think maybe we have missed something there!
by Paul Benson
…and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.-Jesus to the Church at Smyrna
Let me start by saying I am not really a big numerology buff. Many Christians are. And some take it to such extremes that they are seeing (and hearing) things I believe are not really there!
When we start searching for ‘revelations’ we desperately want to see, rather than searching for the voice of God to speak what he wants to say to us personally, we are opening doors that might be better left closed. Without the leading of the Holy Spirit we are likely to get distracted, or worse yet out-right deceived. And I actually feel straying too far into numerology can lead to a sin akin to seeking guidance from the stars. (I am speaking of astrology.)
I sometimes get lengthy e-mails so full of numbers, symbols, and disjointed thoughts trying to tie them all together that it is impossible to make heads or tails of what the person is trying to communicate. It sounds like: ‘When you add this to that and divide it by this you get so and so; and when that is compared to this number added to that one, and now related to all these other numbers, you MUST come to this conclusion!’
And I have to sit back and go: ‘Lord, is there anything you are trying to say to me through this jumbled up mess?’ And not very often do I get any ‘quickening’ from those lengthy treatises! Not to offend anyone but I see so many go out into la-la land over numbers and sequences of numbers that it has kind of turned me off to deeper exploration of this topic.
But in this matter, as well as all things, we must be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. And we should realize that at times God certainly does speak through various numbers in the Bible. I view the number 10 as being one of those prominent numbers. Let’s look at that number in relation to end-time events. Continue reading “Tribulation And The Number 10”
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.-Jesus the Christ
In a comment concerning last weeks guest post ‘The Rapture of the Church is after the Tribulation – by Rob Miller’ brother Roy Peterson brought up the question of the length of the tribulation and the later outpouring of God’s wrath at the Second Coming. Since answering this issue led to many associated thoughts I have put them into this weeks article. Continue reading “How Long Will The Prophesied ‘Time Of Great Tribulation’ Last?”
(This is a guest post by Rob Miller. His site is Sum Of Thy Word. I love the testimonies of those who have been delivered from the bondage of false teachings, and have chosen to take the simple truths of the Scriptures (as revealed by the Holy Spirit) as the foundation for their beliefs rather than man’s wayward theologies they have heard parroted from the pulpit. In this article on the rapture Rob focuses on those clearly stated truths to show the incorrectness of the pre-trib theory. I really appreciate work such as his that gives additional witness to what the Lord has shown me. -Paul Benson)Continue reading “The Rapture of the Church is after the Tribulation – Rob Miller”
Should the city of Neom really be named ‘Neo-Bable’? Maybe!
Much has been said recently about the proposed construction of a massive city in the middle-east named Neom. A vast metropolis that will dwarf New York City many times over, and built with AI as its central nervous system, it will also amazingly promote the modernizing of Islamic religion and culture, and the melding of it into a new-age mindset of global unity. Of all the talks I have heard on this issue I would like to refer you to one by Watchman Alexander. Continue reading “The City of Neom (and its role in the fulfillment of end-time prophecy).”
Have YOU rejected the pre-trib rapture fable yet? You should!
by Paul Benson
The teaching of a Pre-trib Rapture to remove the Church before the final few years of this age is a dangerous and damaging doctrine that seriously wounds the understanding of those who are deceived by it.
It is so provably false that if it were ever argued in a courtroom it would be thrown out due to lack of evidence; and labeled as a frivolous claim!
Many are blind to the promises of blessing in God’s warnings of Judgment. Do you see them?
by Paul Benson
For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. 7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds. 8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited. 9 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets. 10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. 11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in… Jeremiah 6:6-11
In the sixth chapter of Jeremiah God sets forth a very stern warning concerning the approaching Judgment of his beloved city of Jerusalem. A very concise and descriptive warning of what would befall the inhabitants if they continued along their course of rebellion and corruption.
I have stated before that I believe there is a remarkable parallel between the condition of our nation and that of ancient Israel in the days before they fell victim to the Judgment of God and were stripped of the glory and blessing they foolishly thought they could never lose.
I don’t place much confidence in all the prophesying I am hearing of a coming era of peace and prosperity for the nation of America. It is a false vision and a delusion that mirrors the words of the false prophets pacifying (and fleecing) the people of Jerusalem in the days before her humiliation.
We are a nation already under Judgment; but most cannot recognize that fact as they do not understand God’s judgments are often unfolded in a progressive manner. Just because there are not fireballs or nuclear warheads falling from the sky, or super volcanos erupting, does not mean we are not currently being dealt with by the Almighty.
Though much could be said about the coming hardships this nation will face, and evidence shown that God is removing our staff and stay (Isaiah 3:1), my intention with this article is to focus upon the promise of blessing God has placed (as he normally does) right in the middle of this warning of coming Judgment. Can wayward theology steal entire books of the Bible away from you? Absolutely!
by Paul Benson
(This is PART IV of a series. You can find the former articles here: PART I, PART II, PART III. I thought I was finished with this series on the errors of Dispensational Theology, but seeing how some dismiss the rebuke of that theology by stating: “Yes most Dispensationalists ARE in error; but our own particular tightly-focused Acts 28 slant on Dispensationalism is the real deal!”, I thought I would go the extra mile and show proof that their own little niche is not a safe place either to hide from the truth that ALL Dispensational (aka Separation) Theology is absolutely out of sync with the Scriptures. P.B.)
The New Testament of the Bible gives us not only a firm framework of proper Christian doctrine, but also a vivid history of the activities and beliefs of the early Church. We can see a clear picture of what they believed and taught. It was not a complicated nor convoluted mess of theological ramblings that could only be understood and taught by the ‘Learned Ones’ of their day! It was a simple Gospel that could be easily grasped by the common man.
Dispensationalists claim their theology is totally based upon a ‘historical grammatical interpretation of the Scriptures’; but that claim is little more than hot air and wishful thinking. Their doctrine contradicts both the historical and grammatical context of a great deal of Scripture they claim actually teaches it!
